Can you give me some good tips to stand out during a job interview?

One way to consider a job interview is to look at it like meeting your in-laws for the first time. You want to make the best possible impression and get it right the first time!
Below are some tips to help you clinch that job interview:
  • Do your research – Make sure you know what the role is about so you can match your skills and experience to the job requirements. Learning about your potential employer shows that you are serious about wanting the job.

  • Practice makes perfect – Anticipate what questions you’ll be asked and be ready with your answers. You don’t want to appear hesitate or vague. Rehearse your responses in front of a mirror or a friend.

  • Come prepared – Bring updated copies of your resume, references, certificates or letters of praise from clients and former employers.

  • Good manners count – Be on time for your appointment and remember to send a short thank-you e-mail or note to the person who interviewed you. Turn off your mobile phone during the interview.

  • Dress for Success – Always wear a suit and look neat and tidy.

  • Smile, smile, smile – Be happy! Show your confidence in your eye contact, behaviour, posture and energy.
